Passion Projects

Passion projects

These are projects I’ve worked on for free, usually for friends and family, just for the love of design.

June 2020. In 2020 we modified our yearly tradition of going to the San Diego County Fair for my dad’s birthday/Fathers Day: we brought the fair to my parents’ backyard. I created a logo with a new theme - Dads - which we used on “signage” for different exhibits and areas of the fairgrounds (aka backyard).

August 2019. This little guy is my nephew Kaleo; his family is full of surfers and beach-goers. For his 1st birthday I made him a custom onesie with a SoCal twist on the classic “Baby on Board” sticker.

June 2021. Chicken Larry’s is a fictional restaurant, an inside joke about the chicken recipes that my dad is known for. As a gift I made an official Chicken Larry’s logo, including a portrait illustration of him that I made as well. Then I got it printed an apron. Pictured: Chicken Larry himself cooking up one of his famous chicken dishes, with the Chicken Larry’s apron on.

May 2021. For Mother’s Day 2021, Michael McDonald live-streamed a pay per view concert titled “Yo Mama Be There.” My sister and I purchased the livestream to watch with my mom and dad. For the event, in our living room, I created fake concert tickets and “laminated” wristbands (clear packaging tape on both sides, cut down to fit). The QR code even works.

January 2019. A logo concept for a podcast chronicling a special Dungeons and Dragons game, featuring only one character against the Dungeon Master.
